LISTENING OBJECT No. 1
Launched in collaboration with the Noguchi Museum store in 2021, this is the first in a series of conceptual Olfactive Objects commissioned by FOLIE à PLUSIEURS that aims to cultivate a modern appreciation for the ancient medium of incense through art, design, music, and performance, and to code a new ritual into the running programs of our contemporary lives.
MATERIAL
A quartz sand 3D printed platform made in Germany for placing and burning incense sticks. Made in one color - A black that expresses a brown hue over time as exposed to hard sunlight via ultraviolet radiation .
Care Instructions: Burn one stick at a time, and place on top. Clean after use with warm soapy water and steel wool. If build up of incense resin occurs it will inhibit the burning. The series aims to inspire a modern appreciation for incense, and to promote a new cultural ritual of pause through the interplay of music and scent.
